The final collection of a genius

Look at these shoes. ... Beautiful.

I was going to look at something on my phone earlier and completely forgot what I was doing because this picture is on my background and I got mesmerized by it. It’s so beautiful. Don’t think about the foot in the shoe and how painful it must be. Because I know that’s what you’re thinking.

Look past that. Look at the shape. Look how beautifully rounded the arch is. Look how proportional everything looks. The heel and the front of the shoe make the same shape.

That shoe was from Alexander McQueen’s Spring/Summer 2010 collection – the last Fashion Week collection he completed before he died. The whole collection was inspired by moths. It’s amazing how much inspiration you can get from one single creature. Let’s look at some other moments from this same collection.

I love how he used the body of the moth, too.
Can't you just see the little lapels on the hips
as the legs on the moth?
She has wings!
She's going to fly away. Gorgeous.

*Damn … I got distracted … 3 minutes gone on my firstVIEW account*

It almost looks as if she's wrapped in the wing.
Beautiful.

*Aww … it’s over now.*

But guess what? You’ve just experienced the insane genius that was … Alexander McQueen.

R.I.P.

(… And of course, what was my boyfriend listening to in the background while I was trying to concentrate on this post? …)

... Yup.
