How to look at fashion

It’s difficult to get most people to understand fashion. When you see an outfit, the first thing you think are simple thoughts that are often a bit selfish.

  • “How would that look on me?”
  • “That’s not my style.”
  • “Eww – that would make me look pregnant!”
  • “It looks pretty, but I could never pull it off.”

This is not the way high fashion should be viewed. Fashion really is an art form and should be looked at as such. Fashion shows are the art exhibits of fashion. Designers such as Karl Lagerfeld, John Galliano and Marc Jacobs put on the most incredible shows. They really transport you to another world – a world where the clothes can survive. That’s what fashion is all about.

Can you imagine going to an Alexander McQueen (R.I.P.) fashion show? (Video NSFW)

How breathtaking would that be? There is no other way to see it other than as an art form.

Take a look at this collection from John Galliano for Christian Dior. Can you imagine being at this show?

What about this Chanel show? Look at that location! It is perfect for the clothes. Karl Lagerfeld does such an amazing job.

Watch what Marc Jacobs did for Louis Vuitton. It reminds me of old movies like Gigi and Funny Face. What a beautiful presentation!

And now for a break from current fashion. Let’s look at the ’60s. 🙂
